Star Wars: Did Gina Carano's Firing Lead to Rangers of the New Republic Being Put on Hold?

There is little doubt that fans think Gina Carano's firing will mean that Cara Dune will no longer appear in The Mandalorian Season 3. But did it also put another series on hold? There are speculations that the spin-off show Star Wars: Rangers of the New Republic has been put on hold because it was supposed to focus on Cara Dune.

Star Wars: Rangers of the New Republic was one of the Mandalorian spin-off shows announced during Disney Investor Day last year. Since then, there haven't been a lot of updates about the projects like the Ahsoka Tano series and The Book of Boba Fett are already moving forward in development. Interestingly, the only update comes from a recent report about Dave Filoni's promotion.

Variety previously confirmed that Filoni has been promoted to Executive Creator Director position at Lucasfilm. Hidden somewhere in the report was an update on Rangers of the New Republic stating that it "is not currently in active development."

The update wasn't necessarily a big deal for some fans considering that there are a lot of major shows that are still in development. However, a few also noted that Rangers of the New Republic could have focused on the Marshals who work at keeping the peace after the fall of the Galactic Empire. This means it may have been a series that will feature Cara and the other Marshals on Tatooine.

For now, Lucasfilm has not yet offered an official update on Star Wars: Rangers of the New Republic. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
