Ex-The Mandalorian actress Gina Carano's newsmaking termination from Lucasfilm has undeniably left a lasting impact on the Star Wars franchise and most notably the future of the Mandoverse. Before her firing, Carano was poised to lead her own spinoff series titled Rangers of the New Republic which would have focused on Cara Dune's days as a shock trooper in Alderaan.

In a stunning turn of events, the project has apparently been shelved presumably for the time being and as it stands, the show is no longer in active development over at Lucasfilm. This news is coming from the good folks over at Variety. Now, it's worth mentioning that fans really didn't know much about the supposed series' actual plot and other details about it but according to new info released by insider Corey Van Dyke of Kessell Run Transmissions, Rangers of the New Republic would have also featured Bo-Katan Kryze as one of the main characters.

It's safe to assume at this point that Carano's "unceremonious" ousting from Disney and Lucasfilm may have affected the status of the series. It's a real shame when you think about it given the fact that Star Wars already planted the seeds for it in The Mandalorian Season 2. But on the flip side, this shocking new development may actually indicate that the show could no longer continue because it was always meant to be a Cara Dune-centric project, and with Gina no longer part of the franchise, there's really no point in continuing it unless they go back to the drawing board.

Meanwhile, in other Star Wars news, The Book of Boba Fett has reportedly wrapped up filming.
