Star Wars Battlefront 2 Janina Gavankar Confirms Hyper Realism Of Cancelled Visceral Project

Earlier today, Star Wars gamers learned that EA's canceled Visceral Star Wars project was actually further along than most would have expected before the game was pulled from development.

Uncharted alum Amy Hennig opened up about the project in an interview with US Gamer, saying that the Project Ragtag (the codename for the Star Wars game) was already deep into development when the project fell apart.

Janina Gavankar, the voice actress for Star Wars Battlefront 2's lead character, Iden Verso, confirms the report. Taking to Twitter, the actress retweeted a post talking about Project Ragtag, saying that she saw a lot of the project and that it was a gorgeous game.

I've seen a lot of it. It was gorgeous. Can't wait to read this article. https://t.co/EgdWomgTBT

It was supposed to be a beautiful game. In her discussion with US Gamer, Hennig reveals that Project Ragtag had always meant to be an AAA-budget game.

"I hate saying the word ‘brand,' it's gross — but like, if I have a wheelhouse, part of that is the fact that I know how to do like bang-on photo-real," Hennig said, "Like the stuff we were doing for Star Wars, like high-end, high-fidelity real-time content and believable characters."

For the uninitiated, Project Ragtag was believed to be a Star Wars game centered around a group of Scoundrels. The game was supposed to look and function a lot like Uncharted, though Visceral would have to build on the Frostbite Engine to hold up the project.

It's really a shame that we'll never be able to see Visceral's Star Wars game come to fruition. Hopefully, EA doesn't do the same thing and pull the plug on Respawn's upcoming Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.
