Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Actor Responds to Nicolas Cage's Surprising Trekkie Reveal

Recently, beloved award-winning actor Nicolas Cage revealed that he is a huge fan of Star Trek when he was asked whether he has any interest to join the Star Wars franchise. It is certainly an exciting reveal for Trekkies since it could lead to a possibility that the actor will get involved in the Trek universe at some point.

In lieu of this surprising reveal, a lot of fans are now wondering now whether the Oscar winner will get invited to join the franchise. If he does, what project will we see him in? The long-gestated Star Trek 4? Maybe a guest role in one of the shows that are airing on Paramount+?

Anson Mount, who stars as Christopher Pike in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, responded to Cage's recent Trekkie reveal on Twitter where he tagged the series' showrunner Akiva Goldsman and asked him to cast the Oscar winner for a role in the franchise. "@AkivaGoldsman Must. Make. This. Happen," he said.

"I'm a Trekkie, man. I’m on the Star Trek Enterprise. That’s where I roll," Cage told Yahoo! Entertainment during the interview when he revealed his love for the Star Trek universe and shot down the possibility of joining the Star Wars franchise.

He added, "I grew up watching [William] Shatner. “I thought [Chris] Pine was terrific in the movies. I think the movies are outstanding. I like the political and the sociological [messages]. To me, what science fiction is really all about and why it’s such an important genre is that really you can say whatever you want, however you feel."

"You put it on a different planet, you put it in a different time or in the future, and without people just jumping on you, you can really express your thoughts like Orwell or whomever in the science-fiction format. And Star Trek really embraced that," the actor further explained.

It is certainly exciting to hear that Cage is a Trekkie since it leads to the possibility of him joining the franchise. Now that the key people there are aware of his fandom, it would be interesting to see whether the actor will actually end up getting involved, even in a guest role in one of the shows like Strange New Worlds.
