Trekkies are understandably excited about Star Trek: Picard Season 2. After all, everyone is looking forward to Jean-Luc Picard's new adventure. However, the second season of the Star Trek series continues to be a mystery. Here's what we know about the next season so far.

The second season of Picard was already in development before the series even aired last year. Luckily, the renewal was confirmed in May 2020.

There is no trailer yet for Star Trek: Picard Season 2. This is because production has not yet started and there is no new footage for the show. However, a teaser could be released once filming begins in February.

It has already been confirmed that Patrick Stewart will return as Jean-Luc Picard in Picard Season 2. Likewise, the crew of La Sirena will be back and will be joined by Seven of Nine played by Jeri Ryan.

What will happen in the second season? Patrick Stewart has offered some insight on what will happen to his character now that he has been given a fresh start. Although Picard is understandably grateful for being alive, he will also need to get used to wearing the golem body in Season 2.

"I wanted to know what, exactly, they had done to me when they saved my life, and was there any chance that this might have an impact on Picard's personality or behavior," Stewart said. With that in mind, we could learn what it's like for Picard to live in a completely new body.

Has Star Trek: Picard Season 2 Began Production and Filming?

The second season was supposed to begin production in 2020. Unfortunately, plans had to be pushed back due to COVID-19, and filming was expected to start in January 2021.

Interestingly, there has been a slight delay for Picard Season 2. Jeri Ryan confirmed on Twitter that production will begin in February. This lines up with Patrick Stewart getting a COVID-19 vaccine in late January to prepare for filming.

Where to Watch Star Trek: Picard Season 2

Star Trek: Picard Season 2 will air on CBS All Access in the US and on Amazon Prime Video for international Trekkies. However, there is a possibility it will be an exclusive series once the streaming service is rebranded into Paramount+ in March 2021. Stay tuned for updates on this story.
