Star Trek: Michael Dorn Still Wants to Do Captain Worf Series

We might be seeing a lot of familiar characters in Star Trek: Picard but Michael Dorn has other plans for his Klingon. The Star Trek: The Next Generation actor says he still wants to do a Captain Worf series and even shared some details about what could happen in the spin-off show he pitched.

Dorn recently spoke to Trek Movie while promoting his new movie Agent Revelation. During the interview, the former TNG star shared an update on what's happening to the Captain Worf series he had pitched.

"There's interest and then there's not," Dorns said. "Then there's interest and then there's not. And I guess it was two years ago I thought they would take it a little further. But that did not happen."

Although it doesn't look like the show will be moving forward, Dorn claims he hasn't given up hope.

"I don't know if the whole idea is dead – not in my mind," he said with a laugh. "I believe that they are missing a great opportunity to insert something into Star Trek that's always been part of the Star Trek lexicon, which is the Klingons."

Dorn does have a point considering that we haven't caught up with the Klingons in the current Star Trek shows. Although there are speculations that we'll see more Klingons in Star Trek: Discovery Season 4, this has yet to be confirmed by the producers.

But what could fans expect if the Captain Worf series eventually gets the greenlight? Dorn revealed that it takes place after Worf's exit from Starfleet and will offer a completely different point of view of the organization.

"Basically, the script I wrote was: Instead of looking at the Klingon Empire from Starfleet, we look at Starfleet from the Klingon Empire," he said. "And it has been going on for decades, the Klingon Empire just can't go on. It's the Russians, basically."

Dorn continued by stating that the show could introduce some major changes for the Klingons that will be led by Worf.

"They decide that they have to either die with a sword in their hands and go extinct, or change with the times and become something different. And Worf is the guy that says, 'We have to change with the times, that is the mark of a warrior,'" he said.

It sounds like Captain Worf will be a very unique Star Trek series. Although we love Dorn's pitch, it is also disappointing that the show has not yet been picked up yet. Hopefully, we'll get an awesome update soon.

It is still unclear whether Dorn will reprise his role as Worf in Star Trek: Picard Season 2. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
