O Yeong Su maintained his innocence amid the damaging sexual misconduct allegation surrounding his name.
The Squid Game actor, who played Oh Il Nam in the hit Netflix series, was indicted by the Seongnam Branch of the Suwon District Prosecutor’s Office on Nov. 25 after a woman filed a complaint on Dec. 21, 2021. A supplementary investigation was done after the higher authorities received the complaint.
Following interviews with the witnesses and reviewing the lawyers’ opinions, the police did not transfer the case. However, the prosecution soon reinvestigated the case after the victim appealed.
The trial for the case, meanwhile, formally started this month.

O Yeong Su Appears During Sexual Assault Charges Trial
Korea JoongAng Daily confirmed that O Yeong Su denied the allegations during his appearance on the first trial on Friday at the Seongnam branch of Suwon District Court in Gyeonggi.
The woman alleged that the actor groped and kissed her while they were outside. The two were both part of a theater troupe. She accused him of “taking advantage of his superior position” and sexually harassed her more than once.

According to O Yeong Su’s lawyer, while they truly went out for a walk with her, he dismissed the claims in the charges.
"When my client confronted. Mr. O and demanded an apology from him after the incident, he admitted his wrongs,” the lawyer continued “However, now he is denying all charges and my client is thus suffering additional pain. Even now, she is engulfed in trauma as Mr. O fails to show any remorse for his crimes."
O Yeong Su Faces the Press After The Trial
Following his appearance in court, O Yeong Su told the local press outside the area that he truly held her hand. However, he also maintained that he did not sexually assault her.
He is set to appear in the next closed-door trial on April 14.
Amid his legal battle, there have been queries about whether he would return in Squid Game season 2 as director Hwang Dong Hyuk confirmed the installment. In an interview with Deadline, the showrunner only confirmed Lee Jung Jae and Lee Byung Hoon’s return.
