AnimeJapan 2023 saw a dizzying amount of anime reveals, including new shows and release dates for highly anticipated titles. Among the biggest announcements were the release date reveals for Spy x Family Season 2 as well as the new anime movie.
The release dates for these two projects were revealed at the Spy x Family stage event at AnimeJapan 2023.
While we already knew beforehand about the second season’s story, the movie got some interesting new details in the form of a key visual and title reveal.
Spy x Family Season 2 Release Date Announcement
Over the past couple of years, many anime fans have become used to longer wait times between seasons. For instance, it took two years before Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 was released.
Spy x Family fans will be happy to know that they won’t have to wait too long as Season 2 will be released beginning October 2023, meaning it will be the highlight of the Fall 23 season.
This is interesting to note given that Wit Studio and CloverWorks only have a gap of less than a year before they have to work on the series again.
Though the fact that two studios are working on the anime should make the tight turnaround time easier.
Plus, staff members from Season 1 are returning for the second season, including the likes of director Kazuhiro Furuhashi.
As for its story, while no details were revealed at AnimeJapan, the previous reveal trailer for the season confirmed that the anime will adapt the Cruise Adventure arc which follows the Forger family trio as they go on a cruise.

Spy x Family Code: White Movie Visual, Release Date
While Season 2 will follow the manga source material’s story, the Spy x Family anime film will feature an all-new story by series creator Tatsuya Endo.
At the event, it was revealed that this movie is titled Spy x Family Code: White.
Along with the title reveal, the first key visual for the film was shared, featuring Loid, Yor, Anya, and Bond in a winter environment.
No other details about the movie were revealed, though this new visual does give us hints about what to expect.
Code: White likely refers to a new mission involving Loid and possibly Yor, and it seems that the story will be set in winter.
What we can say for certain is that Spy x Family Code: White will be released on December 22 in Japanese cinemas. But there’s no word yet on an international release.
