Spider-Man: Kevin Feige Says No Way Home Isn’t Trying to Compete with Into the Spider-Verse

Although Marvel Studios has never directly admitted it, the unprecedented success of 2018's Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse prompted Kevin Feige and his team to finally pull the trigger on the multiverse and frankly, the timing couldn't have been any better. Now, we're just less than two months away from the upcoming release of Spider-Man: No Way Home and fans are eager to see if the Tom Holland-led film will be able to match or even surpass Into the Spider-Verse.

But if you'll ask Feige himself, he doesn't feel the need to compete against the award-winning Sony Pictures blockbuster, and according to him, while Into the Spider-Verse was the first one to explore and bring the wonders of the Marvel multiverse to the fandom on the big screen, No Way Home tells a completely different story.

In an interview with Empire Magazine, the Marvel Cinematic Universe patriarch said: "Spider-Verse helped to popularize the concept of multiple universes with different characters in them. But it’s not about competing, necessarily. It’s about telling your own story."

Into the Spider-Verse is a pretty solid film overall and I can even go as far as saying that it'll give other live-action Spidey flicks a run for their money because it's that good. But let's not discount the fact that No Way Home is already shaping up to be the grandest superhero crossover event in comic book film history and I have a great feeling that the film will blow us all away.

Spider-Man: No Way Home hits cinemas on December 17, 2021.
