Spider-Man: Homecoming is Part of a 5-Story Journey

A lot of hopes have been put on the young shoulders of Peter Parker, as portrayed by Tom Holland. His entry into the MCU pretty much gives another run for the web-slinger in the comic book movie industry, and all eyes have been turned to Spider-Man.

From the looks of it, even in Marvel Studios, there's a lot going on for our friendly neighborhood hero—far beyond Spider-Man: Homecoming. While it's common to have trilogies for the Marvel movies, it seems that Peter's journey will go beyond his solo trilogy.

Speaking to Toronto Sun, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige revealed that they will be tracing his journey as one of the now revered characters in the franchise:

"We are looking at a five-movie storyline—Civil War, Homecoming, Avengers: Infinity War, untitled Avengers, Homecoming 2 or whatever we end up calling it—as an amazing five-story journey for Peter Parker. In the way that the events of Civil War directly inform the opening of Homecoming and his state of mind as he goes back to high school, so too will the events of the next two Avengers movies as he continues with high school. This original 22-movie arc ends with the untitled Avengers in May of 2019 and then two months later it will be Peter and Spider-Man (on July 5, 2019) that ushers us into the aftermath and how things proceed from there."

I'm very much interested in the mention of the "aftermath" because it not only confirms what most people dread about Avengers: Infinity War being the end for a few key Marvel characters, but also puts Spidey in a pretty major role following the disastrous encounter with Thanos.

For now, we have the weekend to look forward to, when Spider-Man: Homecoming swings its way to theaters on July 7.
