Here’s Why Spider-Man: Homecoming Won’t Feature Spider Sense

The newest adaptation of Spider-Man in the movies has quite a number of changes. Compared to the other Spidey films we've seen, however, is the use of his tingly Spider Sense against his foes.

Apparently, we won't be seeing this power in action for Spider-Man: Homecoming. Director Jon Watts confirmed with CinemaBlend that Spidey won't be aided by extra sharp senses:

"I feel like we have seen a lot of Spider Sense in the previous films, so we didn't really lean into that as hard as they have in the previous films. But I do think it is a really interesting thing to explore."

As the report pointed out, this new update does put some details in Captain America: Civil War into good perspective. For starters, Ant-Man was able to sneak up to and surprise Spidey when he ran along the shield. Another scene where we realize that he doesn't have the Spider Sense is when Falcon was able to hit him with Falcon's Redwing.

I guess it also makes sense, in a way, to do away with the Spider Sense. Tom Holland's Spider-Man is supposed to be the rookie of the team, but the Spider Sense would have given him a surprisingly strong advantage. Peter relying solely on his wits and still-raw capabilities would better fit a starting superhero in high school.

Perhaps the high-tech Spidey suit will make up for the missing power. Or perhaps the latter sequels will slowly introduce it into the storyline. For now, we're crossing our fingers that this version of Spider-Man will be the best yet.

Spider-Man: Homecoming will be out in theaters on July 7.
