Sony Has Built A 'Perfect' Ghostbusters Proton Pack

Sony has reportedly perfected the technology for the iconic Ghostbusters Proton Pack, an energy weapon used by the team to capture supernatural entities.

In a viral marketing video released by Sony for Paul Feig’s upcoming film, it’s explained how the company has finally perfected the technology to make an actual Proton Pack.

The video drops several Ghostbusters Easter eggs, such as the names of Egon Spengler (portrayed by Harold Ramis in the original Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II) and Jillian Holtzmann (portrayed by Kate McKinnon on Paul Feig’s upcoming Ghostbusters reboot). The video also highlights how Sony has worked on the project for 30 years and that the new development is slime resistant.

Take a look at the Ghostbusters Proton Pack viral video below:

Too perfect?

Check your calendars, because it’s April Fool’s Day!

As reported by Reuters, the video is a promotional video for the upcoming Ghostbusters rather than announcement of an actual Proton Pack.

However, I don’t think anybody would have believed that video. The film's trailers haven't received much love from fans of the original Ghostbusters as of late. I don't know how this April Fool's video will change fans' minds, if Sony is even planning to achieve that.

The “30 years” mentioned in the video above is a reference to the 30th Anniversary of the franchise two years ago. The “slime-resistant” line is also an Easter egg to the iconic ghost in the franchise, Slimer.

Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters stars Melissa McCarthy as paranormal researcher Abby Yates, Kristen Wiig as physicist Erin Gilbert, Kate McKinnon as nuclear engineer Jillian Holtzmann, and Leslie Jones as a subway worker.
