Sony Finally Responds to The Amazing Spider-Man 3 Fan Petition

Ever since Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield made their triumphant return in Spider-Man: No Way Home, a lot of fans have been petitioning for them to star in their own films again continuing their respective Spider-Man franchises. However, Sony hasn't made any comment yet about the possibility of having the two actors return again in their own films. But in a very rare instance, the studio has finally responded to the petition.

The official Sony Twitter account recently posted a tweet in which they wrote that they are aware of the fan petitions regarding Andrew Garfield coming back to star in The Amazing Spider-Man 3. However, they played coy with their statement as they iterated that the social media team is not involved in making such decisions. The tweet was made in promotion of the home video release of Spider-Man: No Way Home.

So does it mean that The Amazing Spider-Man 3 is actually going to happen? It is hard to tell. After all, the social media post didn't indicate that the studio is going to do it, but it does show that the studio is aware of the fan petition. They also played safe with their response since they wrote that they are "just the social media team" which means that they have nothing to do in terms of the petition.

Of course, the petition will still go on as more people are reliving the film at their home and with all the rumors and speculations that are being discussed regarding the future Marvel films from both Disney and Sony. All we can do right now is speculate and hope that it will happen, but we should also anticipate that the studio might not likely do it since they are focusing the attention on their current franchise.

Garfield was also asked recently if he's interested to play Spider-Man again to which he said that he is not open to playing the character again. However, given that he has lied before about his then-rumored involvement in Spider-Man: No Way Home, it is hard to say if it's actually true at all. Only time will tell if we'll ever see Garfield in the suit again.
