The 6th episode of Sonny Boy took randomness up to eleven with God (!) possibly tossing a coin just to see what will happen to the students. Now halfway through the 12-episodeoriginal anime, we can't help thinking that a circle is closing and that the second half will be even stranger.
Nagara and Rajdhani delve more deeply into the former's powers, Ms. Akio keeps trying to make Asakaze some sort of messianic figure, Hoshi becomes creepier and creepier, while the student council keeps doing their own thing. It falls to Nozomi's shoulders to bridge the distance and act as a go-between, but the consequences are devastating this time. The opening/closing theme is right; God is nowhere to be found. But this episode proves that God used to be somewhere, where He could seriously mess with the students.
This is obviously a lot to take, and we aren't sure if Episode 7 will make things and less confusing, but we're waiting for it eagerly nonetheless. If you do as well, here's everything you need to know:

Sonny Boy is an original anime by Studio Madhouse. It all starts with a classroom of 36 students on a regular summer day. The day, of course, stops being regular when the high-schoolers are transported into another dimension, school building and all.

Nagara keeps exploring new worlds with help from Rajdhani, Mizuho, and Nozomi. At one point, the four end up in a cinema-like room where anything shown on the screen is Nagara's point of view.
Mizuho comes back from a shopping trip bringing a huge talking dog with her, who claims that he used to be one of the students at their school. As timing in the world they've found themselves is very messed up, he also explains that he enrolled after they did, but he's been in This World for 5.000 years. He claims that he can never go back now, but that the students still stand a chance.
Hoshi, who heard god's voice telling him the school would go adrift before it even happened, claims that it is not so. He sees the new world as an ark and believes they have to make a life for themselves in their new world as they can never go back. It doesn't help that Ms. Aki still tries to turn everyone against Nagara and place everyone's hope on Asakuza's shoulders.
Eventually, Nozomi uses her compass power to see the light once again. This, combined with the manipulation of Nagara's film, manages to take all the students back to their dimension, on their graduation day. To their shock, they discover that their world has been split; they see themselves graduating, while they are ghost-like in this dimension, unable to touch anything. None is more shocked than Nozomi though, as she finds that her alternate self didn't survive graduation.
The students conclude that what happened to them was akin to God tossing a coin. At that point, doubles were created, that were cast in a different world, while the students' alternate selves kept going on with their lives. But who are the originals, who are the copies, and if there were two of you, who would be the real one? I don't have much hope of getting a definitive answer, but I can't wait for Episode 7 either way.
Sonny Boy Episode 7Release Date
The release date for Sonny Boy Episode 7, titled "Road Book," is going to be next Friday the 27th of August for subscribed Funimationand Huluusers. International fans might be able to access it from the 26th of August depending on where they are in the world.
Non-subscribed users will have to wait one more week, until September 3 to watch for free on Funimation. No dub has been announced yet for Sonny Boy, but we're hoping that we can expect one soon.
