Sonic Forces: Shadow The Hedgehog Will Be Free DLC

In a move that may have garnered more buys from hardcore fans, Sonic Forces will have free DLC starring Shadow the Hedgehog. Titled Episode Shadow, it will take place before the events of the main starts and ironically sheds some light on Shadow's allegiance towards Infinite, the new villain of the game. Considering how the character has been more of an anti-hero in recent years, this should be an interesting expansion.

Sega released a minute-long gameplay trailer for the DLC, showing off Shadow's gameplay. It isn't too different from what Modern Sonic brings to the table, though there will be sections in the episode where Shadow can instantly destroy a ton of flying enemies with a Lightspeed Dash-like move. Fans are probably just happy that it doesn't resemble the terrible Shadow the Hedgehog video game, though the guns would have made him stand out more.

According to Game Informer, Episode Shadow will have three stages in total, which won't be too long since this is a Sonic game. However, fans that download the free DLC will be able to use Shadow in over 10 of Sonic's stages, which is a nice touch. Fans that pick up the digital deluxe edition will also get a Shadow costume for the player's custom avatar, in addition to the other DLC clothes based on Sega properties.

Episode Shadow will be available on November 7, the same day Sonic Forces launches. The game and the DLC will be on PS4, Xbox One, Windows PC and Nintendo Switch.
