As obtained by GStarlive, Son Seok Koo gets candid about his working relationship with co-stars Kim Ji Won and Ma Dong Seok.

In a short Q&A with the publication, the 39-year-old actor was asked who among Yeom Mi Jung of My Liberation Notes, played by Kim Ji Won, and Detective Ma Duk Su of The Roundup, portrayed by Ma Dong Seok, will he choose as the best couple.

Without a doubt, Son Seok Koo immediately mentioned Kim Ji Won’s name and explained why he picked the actress.

Despite being shy to answer the question, he pointed out her visuals and revealed his first impression of Kim Ji Won.

"At first, I thought she looked like a baby, but now I think of her as a charismatic woman," he said, adding "She's very artistic."

Son Seok Koo’s Success in My Liberation Notes and The Roundup

While My Liberation Notes gained massive popularity and dominated rankings of most buzzworthy dramas and actors and rakes soaring ratings every episode, the viewers adored the on-screen chemistry of Son Seok Koo and Kim Ji Won as they play the mysterious yet charismatic Mr. Gu and Yeom Mi Jung.

With the hype of this K-drama couple, viewers even gave them a name as the “worship couple.”

Interestingly, Son Seok Koo is the talk of the town as the actor also headlined the blockbuster movie The Roundup with Ma Dong Seok and Choi Gwi Hwa.

Also known as The Outlaws 2, he starred as the new villain named Gang Hae Sang who is being chased by the top-tier detective, Ma Suk Do together with his team.

Ma Dong Seok and Son Seok Koo’s movie did not disappoint viewers as the action comedy sequel topped the box office for weeks since its debut, garnering a whopping 12 million viewers.

With the overwhelming achievement, The Roundup becomes the first movie in Korean history to surpass 12 million since the pandemic and the 18th film to hit the same mark at the South Korean box office.

Apart from the millions of moviegoers, viewers also praised Son Seok Koo’s versatility for flawlessly delivering a different role from his K-drama My Liberation Notes.

Son Seok Koo’s New Drama and Movies

The versatile star is set to return with multiple K-dramas and a new movie in the coming year.

While My Liberation Notes is airing, Son Seok Koo is filming his new series Casino alongside Lee Dong Hwi, veteran actor Choi Min Shik, Squid Game cast Heo Sung Tae and Kim Joo Ryoung, and more.

Apart from this, he will also reprise his role as Captain Im Ji Sup in D.P 2 headlined by Goo Kyo Hwan and Jung Jae In.

Interestingly, he is also set to headline the webtoon-based series Murder DIEary with Choi Woo Shik.

Son Seok Koo will transform as detective Jang Nam Gam in the upcoming Netflix series.

From back-to-back K-dramas, the South Korean star will join the cast of the mystery romance film Virus and will be reunited with Sense8 co-star Bae Doona.
