The screenplay for Silent Night is penned by Robert Archer Lynn (Prisoner), while also marking legendary filmmaker John Woo's (known for Face/Off, Mission: Impossible 2) first Hollywood feature film since 2003's Paycheck.

What is John Woo's Silent Night Story?
As seen in the Lionsgate trailer, Silent Night depicts the happy family of Godlock playing in their backyard, until a group gang went passing by, causing the life of his only son.
Upon recovery, not only does the main character lose his son, but even his voice in the process, leading him to take matters into his own hands to extreme lengths to plot out his revenge.

From legendary director John Woo and the producer of John Wick comes this gritty revenge tale of a tormented father (Joel Kinnaman) who witnesses his young son die when caught in a gang's crossfire on Christmas Eve. Silent Night is Nearly a Silent Film
Recently speaking with Collider, Joel Kinnaman shared how difficult it was to film Silent Night, despite the lack of lines a movie usually possesses. In this case, the 43-year-old star emphasizes that the dialogue-free film is arguably harder to work on:
"Some people thought like, 'Oh, that's easy. You don't have to learn any lines,' but it's not, because the eyes don't lie. And often the dialogue, it will help you get there. It would help you get emotionally there. So it's actually a lot harder to portray everything that you just have to have that kind of inner life and that inner motor and those thought processes going for real. You just can't hide. So I think it's very revealing when there's no dialogue. And so it was a great challenge, and I was very excited that he wanted to do it with me."
Considering that the John Wick producers were boasted to have taken their parts in the making of this film, it's no surprise that the tactic of Actions Speak Louder Than Words applies here, especially since the latest John Wick installment received the same treatment.
