Shikimori's Not Just a Cutie is finally gaining momentum but it looks like the anime will be taking a break starting next week. It has just been confirmed that Episode 7 and the succeeding episodes will be delayed due to COVID-19.
The official Shikimori's Not Just a Cutie Twitter account confirmed the news, revealing that Episode 7 and the succeeding episodes will be delayed. Although Episode 6 will still be broadcast on May 14, the succeeding episodes will get a new schedule.
In another tweet, it is confirmed that a special program will air on May 21 while Episode 7 will be broadcast on May 28 followed by the next episode in the following week. Another special program will be aired on June 11 then Episode 9 will be broadcast on June 18. The succeeding episodes will air in the succeeding weeks.
It was previously confirmed that the animation studio Doga Kobo will be closed down due to a mass outbreak of COVID-19 infections between staff members. Although the announcement was made right before the premiere of Shikimori's Not Just a Cutie, fans were also assured that the anime will be broadcast on the scheduled release date. However, it looks like the delay has finally caught up with the anime.
Luckily, the delay of Shikimori's Not Just a Cutie isn't too severe. With that in mind, fans can still look forward to watching Episode 6 this weekend.
Shikimori's Not Just a Cutie is based on the manga by Keigo Maki and follows Izumi and Shikimori, a typical lovey-dovey high school couple. Except that Izumi frequently gets into trouble and becomes the "maiden in distress," forcing Shikimori to become a very cool heroine that makes everyone's heart beat.
Shikimori's Not Just a Cutie Episode 6 is titled Fireworks in the Middle of Summer ("Natsu zo Hedataru Hanabi ka na") and is scheduled to premiere on Saturday, May 14, 2022.
