She-Hulk: Benedict Wong Responds to the Massive Enthusiasm for the Sorcerer Supreme

Aside from Tatiana Maslany's titular heroine in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Benedict Wong's Sorcerer Supreme is also getting all the hype, with Wong joining Jennifer Walters and other MCU guest stars in the latest Disney+ show.

Wong made his first appearance as a witness to Emil Blonsky's (Tim Roth) parole hearing. Just when we thought his cameo was over, She-Hulk's Episode 4 explored a surprising side of Wong, highlighting his bizarre friendship with new-found companion Madisynn (Patty Guggenheim) and their TV addiction. Wong's return to the latest Disney+ series was met with massive enthusiasm from the fans, claiming that Wong and Madisynn's relationship was the best part of the show.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Benedict Wong acknowledged the tremendous love from fans on social media, noting that he is "heartened" by it and gave credits to the VFX Team for allowing him to be "the big kid" that he's always been. Check out Wong's full quote below:

"Yeah, I mean, [they] send me stuff, and then you kind of just go into a bit of a nosy rabbit hole. I’m really heartened by it, you know? The Marvel fans have kind of warmed to me, and I’m grateful of that. I take my work very seriously in terms of acting, but I also really enjoy having a ball in this universe. I was watching episode four [of She-Hulk] today and just marveling at the work of the VFX team. Just a simple hand gesture of the movement there that I can play, and then what they can fill in. Or just a fling of an arm, and all of a sudden, something else appears. And that, to me, is just the realm of being the big kid that I’ve always been. I’ve just got the most incredible team around me to realize it all. It looks visually stunning, especially with all the goblins [in episode four]."

Due to his many appearances, Wong previously described the MCU's Phase 4 as Phase Wong. The character appeared in several groundbreaking Phase 4 films like Shang-Chi and The Legend of Ten Rings, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and even Spider-Man: No Way Home. After welcoming stars like Simu Liu in Shang-Chi, Xochitl Gomez in the Doctor Strange sequel, and now Maslany in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, he was asked if it is now his responsibility to welcome new MCU stars, wherein he responded:

"Yeah. It’s funny, because I remember that with Simu. When they were filming, I think when they saw me arrive, they finally realized that they were in a Marvel film. I kind of put my wax seal of approval. I mean, obviously, what can I do but say, “Welcome to the MCU” — or sorry, the WCU, or whichever. And whatever learning curves and curveballs that I can add or any sort of advice, I’m always there. Especially with Xochitl as well, being just a very wide-eyed rabbit in the headlights. I think it’s kind of a duty really, being a member of a big ensemble company, to steady people and reassure them."

Now that Wong is getting all the hype, it might be the perfect time for Marvel Studios to develop his own spinoff. Thankfully, Wong is open to the idea and even wants to crossover with Spider-Man's best friend, Ned.

For now, we can watch Wong in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, available to stream on Disney+.
