Doctor Strange Star Hilariously Renames Phase 4 Of The MCU

With the MCU finally done with the Infinity Saga from Phase 1 to 3, MCU's Phase 4 is currently in development with at least 6 films for this year's slate, including the multiple Marvel series set to release in the streaming service, Disney+. For the Avengers Saga and Infinity Saga storylines, one character who was always spotted in the film is Samuel L. Jackson's, Nick Fury. However, for Phase 4, one persistent character who always makes a cameo in nearly every film is Doctor Strange's loyal sidekick, Wong.

Wong first appeared in 2016's Doctor Strange debut as a librarian in the Kamar-Taj, ever since then, he became the sorcerer supreme's sidekick and even took a part in Avengers: Endgame fighting the mad titan, Thanos. Wong then made a continuous cameo in several films like Shang-Chi: The Legend of Ten Rings, and the recent Spiderman: No Way Home.

Speaking in the new issue of Empire Magazine, Wong revealed what he calls the Phase 4, and giving it a more accurate title, "I call it Phase Wong. It's a nice, interesting shift. Wong has taken on a new role, and that dynamic changes between them [Wong and Strange] both." It's worth noting that Wong is now the sorcerer supreme after Doctor Strange was wiped out from Thanos' snap in Avengers: Infinity War, and with Wong's many appearances in several films, he is indeed the Nick Fury of this phase.

Well, no one can really hate Wong. Wong established himself as the loyal sidekick not just for Doctor Strange but also for the Avengers and their group of sorcerers in Kamar-Taj. And in the upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, we will surely see more of the classic Doctor Strange and Wong duo that will deal with Wanda and the multiverse dilemma that Doctor Strange would have to fix.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will premiere in theaters on May 6.
