Shazam!: What Henry Cavill's Cameo was Supposed to be

Henry Cavill was originally planned to have a cameo in next year's Shazam!, but based on reports yesterday, it looks like his appearance in the film was dropped. Thanks to The Wrap's Umberto Gonzalez, we have an idea of what kind of cameo Superman was expected to make in the movie.

He writes on his Instagram (via ScreenRant):

Spoiler alert, for what it's worth the Superman cameo in Shazam! was supposed to be Clark at the end of the movie meeting with Billy Batson, the kid who [becomes] Shazam, and telling him ‘Hey, we're gonna keep an eye on you.' That kind of thing.

Based on yesterday's reports, it sounded like they wanted Cavill to do more than just that scene, saying the scheduling conflicts lead to his part being cut. Then again, maybe Cavill's schedule really is just filled up. He has signed on to star in Netflix's The Witcher as the lead.

News sites around have been reporting that Cavill is officially out as Superman, but based on the official statement from Warner Bros as well as a post from Cavill himself, it looks like the role is still safely in his hands. It's still entirely possible though, that WB is going to put more focus on Supergirl this time, with plans for a Man of Steel sequel put in the backburner.

I don't really mind all the waiting, as long as Cavill still keeps the role, and we have an amazing Superman movie waiting for us down the line.

It's still unknown when we're going to see Cavill as Superman again, but Shazam! hits theaters April 5, 2019.
