Shaman King (2021) Episode 8 has just been released! With 6.99/10 on MyAnimeList, it seems the shonen anime - around which there was much hype upon announcement - needs a little more time to properly pick up. Even Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood invited a complaint or two due to its rushed first episodes, and many argue that Shaman King's 52 episodes are too few to adapt the whole story.
This is not to say that the Shaman King remake is bad. It's too early into the show to make such a claim, and many fans of the manga are enjoying it and follow Yog eagerly in his quest to be a Shaman King.

Shaman King (2021) Overview and Episode 8 Recap
Shaman King is based on a 1998-2004 manga marketed as shonen. The manga received an anime adaptation while still ongoing, meaning that the ending the creators intended for us never made it to our screens. The remake is here to make amends.
In Shaman King, we follow Yoh, who wants to become the most powerful shaman; a being with the ability to summon spirits and manipulate the world according to their will. To achieve his dream, Yoh must come victorious out of a competition that only takes place once every 500 years.
Fans were generally pleased with Shaman King (2021) Episode 8. Some viewers were surprised that while the gore of Episode 7 was significantly toned down in the remake, the inappropriate conduct of Ponchi and Konchi was actually depicted on screen. There was an added scene of Yoh inside the cave, which fans considered a nice touch.
The highlight of the episode was the revelation of the full extend of Ren's motivations. Perhaps the next episodes will show him putting those in motion!
