Netflix has officially dropped new details about the much-awaited Shadow and Bone Season 2. Aside from finally revealing its official release date, the streaming giant also gives a glimpse of the new season with its first-look images.
After almost two years, fans will finally see the continuation of the teenage orphan Alina Starkov’s (Jessie Mei Li) adventure in Shadow and Bone Season 2. With the return of The Darkling (Ben Barnes), what awaits the series’ protagonists?

In the photos obtained by ScreenRant, Alina can be seen on another epic journey with Malyen Oretsev (Archie Renaux).
However, a big threat looms with the appearance of The Darkling, who now has three long-line scars on his face.
Many thought the villain was defeated in the first season finale when a flying volcra carried him off into the Fold. However, at the time, he emerged severely injured at the last minute, and the new photos proved that he had successfully recovered.

But the three crudely stitched black scars across his face undeniably make him look more dangerous.
The images also show the cast of characters in different settings, from the opulent palace to the underground fighting ring to the ship’s deck.
Shadow and Bone Season 2 Release Date
Meanwhile, Netflix revealed the official release date of Shadow and Bone Season 2, which will be on March 16, 2023.
It will once again feature eight episodes and the return of some of the most familiar characters, like Alina, Malyen, The Darkling, and more.

Of course, it will also include new characters who fans are about to meet. The new season will introduce Tolya Yul-Bataar (Lewis Tan), Nikolai Lantsov (Patrick Gibson), Wylan Hendricks (Jack Wolfe), and Tamar Kir-Bataar (Anna Leong Brophy).
What Will Happen in Shadow and Bone Season 2?
The show’s second iteration can be expected to be more epic than its predecessor. Aside from introducing the new characters from the book, it will be largely based on Leigh Bardugo’s second novel, Siege and Storm.
It will see Alina’s journey as she further develops her power. However, she may end up choosing between her abilities and love while continuously facing The Darkling, who’s now more determined to take the throne of Ravka.
