Selena Gomez and Francia Raisa were very close that the latter even donated her kidney to the former. However, many noticed that they seemed to be at odds in the past years.

What Happened To Selena Gomez, Francia Raisa's Friendship?

Raisa donated her kidney to the Only Murders In The Building actress in 2017. However, nearly six years after Gomez's transplant, Raisa said that they are at a "different phase in their lives."

Raisa's dad, however, attributed their falling out to another thing. He claimed that it had something to do with alcohol.

Raisa's father said his daughter and Gomez "had a small difference when Selena was drinking," HuffPost reported after translating video footage of Raisa's dad. "[Francia] told her that she didn't give her the kidney for her to drink, to damage it."

The U.K.'s National Health Service guidelines state that kidney donation recipients can drink in moderation. However, they should not drink more than 14 servings of alcohol per week and should not drink daily.

Gomez seemingly responded to allegations that she was drinking following her kidney transplant. In November, she shared a video on TikTok where Dr. Dawn Bantel defined "heavy drinking" alongside a clip of her where she appeared shocked on the clip while biting her fingernails.

Dr. Bantel said in the video:

"The CDC defines heavy drinking as 15 or more drinks a week for men, and eight or more drinks per week for women."

In the caption, Gomez clarified that it was just a joke.

Francia Raisa Avoids Questions About Selena Gomez

Earlier this month, a TMZ paparazzo spotted Raisa and asked her about her friendship with Gomez. However, he visibly dodged the questions despite the paparazzo repeatedly asking her about the Rare singer.

Raisa said the following when asked about Gomez.

"Sunday is so fun ... I'm Francia, I'm hanging out with my dog."

The paparazzo eventually gave up, saying, "I can't get anything you and Selena." When asked about organ donation, she said that it was something that she would not promote.

"I would definitely speak to someone again about organ donation process because I've done it a few times. It's not something I promote, obviously."

She added:

"But you know, the other day at the movies, I was with my friend Lily, and someone came up to me and said, 'Hey, my friend is the one that you spoke to a few years back about her kidney donation. She's really grateful.' And I said, 'What she doing?' She said, 'Well.' I said great, and for all of that, it's worth it."

Following the interview, Raisa claimed that she received hate from Gomez's fans. She claimed that the singer-actress' supporters made vile comments, with some calling her "f--king w—e," Radar Online reported.
