Secret Invasion: Emilia Clarke Teases G'iah's Important Role in MCU Series

There is little doubt that people are already looking forward to Marvel's Secret Invasion simply to see Emilia Clarke as she makes her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut. Interestingly, the former Game of Thrones star is also hyping up her character's role in the series, confirming that G'iah has an important role to play.

It has already been confirmed that Emilia Clarke is playing Talos' daughter G'iah, who was first introduced as a child in Captain Marvel.

Clarke confirms with Empire magazine that growing up without a home had a huge effect on G'iah and the political and "timely" nature of the series will be something viewers can relate to (via Collider).

"I think the joy of getting to explore political ideas in a high-concept world is that you get the space to see the problem as a whole," Clarke said. "You're not triggered by your own individual experience because, let's face it, you're watching aliens."

"I think through G'iah you see the quandary the Skulls are in," she added. "She allows the audience to have a point of view that straddles both the human and the Skrull side of things."

Emilia Clarke further explained that Secret Invasion has something that would interest everyone and not just the die-hard Marvel fans.

"It's definitely a show for the fans, but it's also a show that my mum, who doesn't watch Marvel, will watch and get, do you know what I mean?" she said.

"You can get into dangerous territory sometimes with this sort of genre where if you haven't watched all 17 other films or shows, you're not going to get it. This isn't that at all," Clarke concluded.

Secret Invasion will also star Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Cobie Smulders, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Emilia Clarke, Don Cheadle, and Martin Freeman. The series will consist of six episodes and is currently set to premiere on Disney+ on June 21, 2023.
