Sam Raimi Reportedly Returning to Direct Doctor Strange 3

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is definitely one of the MCU films that stood out among the rest, given its horror aspect being used in the sequel, thanks to its director Sam Raimi, Doctor Strange 2 became a big hit in shedding a different light on Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch.

Multiverse of Madness was one of the growing foundations in the MCU that showed how the multiverse exactly worked, and that is through Wanda Maximoff yearning to see her twin boys again in an alternate dimension. Seeing as Doctor Strange 2 ended on a cliffhanger by showing Doctor Strange’s wife practically dragging him back into the multiverse to fix what they started, a Doctor Strange 3 is not that far-fetched of an idea.

Now, while Doctor Strange 3 is far beyond into the future of the Marvel Phases, Raimi is rumored to return to direct the threequel, according to @MarvelBRNews on Twitter, as claimed by industry scooper Jeff Sneider.

Seeing as Raimi himself also recently admitted to wanting to direct another MCU film: “I would return to direct or write for any of those franchises if I could. I loved my experiences on all sets and have a great relationship with my partners on Evil Dead, Spider-Man, and Doctor Strange 2. Each could be a very exciting experience for me creatively.” The rumor of his directorial return may not be that far off, after all.

But as it so happens, Marvel Studios has yet to make an official announcement in regards to a Doctor Strange 3’s designated director, let alone its release window, so it’s important to take this with a grain of salt for now. Doctor Strange 3 IS speculated to tie into Shang-Chi 2, which will eventually lead into Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.

Doctor Strange 3 is rumored to be slated for its theatrical release by 2026. In the meantime, you can check out the Doctor Strange franchise streaming on Disney+.
