"There are many variety shows like escape games. But 'The Zone' is different from them. We have to survive. I liked joining this project, because I wanted to work with Jae-suk again," Lee Kwang Soo said, as quoted by The Korea Times.

Yoo Jae Suk added that they need to face extreme situations in the show, hyping the future viewers even more.

During the same press conference, the reality show's co-producer, Cho Hyo Jin, revealed why he began creating the project. He already helmed other variety shows, including Running Man, Family Outing, and X-Man.

The producer said that he started building the project after reading a phrase that said "it isn't the strongest person who survives but whoever survives is the strongest."

"Our cast members are not superheroes. They even look inferior to our viewers. Viewers will feel relaxed and fun watching the cast's hilarious surviving challenges," he went on.

Yoo Jae Suk and Lee Kwang Soo's The Zone: Survival Mission airs on Disney+ on September 8.
