Ben Mendehlson is in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. We saw the 47-year-old Australian actor in the trailer wearing an Imperial Navy Grand Admiral uniform, which is obviously a part of the Dark Side. That much we know. However, aside from that, fans have no clue what other role he could be playing in the Star Wars Anthology movie.
Well, it looks like we'll just have to settle with that knowledge (unless of course Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy and director Gareth Edwards reveals something at the Rogue One panel at Star Wars Celebration Europe).
Mendehlson appeared on Thursday's Jimmy Kimmel Live (via Entertainment Weekly), and asked by the late show host if he was required to keep mum about his role, the actor simply replied: "Oh, hell yes."
He added:
The worst thing is, right, you'll be walking down the street and you'll see some kid in aStar WarsT-shirt, and you're like, ‘I'm in that… whether you know that or not.'
Kimmel tried prying something out of the actor. He was asked whether his character can use the Force, or whether he was a good guy or a bad one. However, it was to no avail. The actor's lips are sealed.
So it looks like Mendehlson wants to talk about it to some extent, but clearly, his contract says he can't. He did offer Kimmel and his viewers some information about himself, saying:
I was aStar Warstragic. I was right at that sweet spot. I was 7 or something when the first one came out. I fell in love – the whole box and dice.
Well, at least we know that whatever his role is, the actor has passion for the franchise. We're rest assured he's going to give it all his got.
