Robert Downey Jr. Begged the Russo Brothers so Iron Man Could Use This Weapon in Captain America: Civil War

Marvel fans were witness to a ton of exciting footage from the Captain America: Civil War trailers, but there's only a few scenes which really struck a chord. One such scene was featured in the Super Bowl trailer, a scene that happened between Bucky and Tony Stark.

It features the Winter Soldier angrily shooting at Iron Man, who could have died if he hadn't used a device attached to his wrist. Apparently, that device wasn't included in the script at all. If it weren't for Robert Downey Jr., Iron Man couldn't have survived that fight without a scratch.

The 51-year-old actor sat down with The Short List recently and he revealed that the device had been his idea originally. Joe and Anthony Russo didn't like the idea of it at first but they eventually agreed and featured it after Downey begged them to several times.

Here's why I love the Russos: that was not in the script. And I said, ‘What if I had this watch that kind of turned into a glove?' They humored me for a couple of weeks, but I kept bringing it up. Eventually they had someone measure me for the hand-glove.

It's intriguing to think now how the original script planned the scene to play out if the Russo brothers didn't give in to the "hand-glove."

In any case, that scene is pretty epic and we'll see more of it when Captain America: Civil War hits theaters on May 6.
