Rickey Smiley Mourning the Death of His Son

Meanwhile, Smiley is now mourning the death of his 32-year-old son, Brandon Smiley.

In a post on Instagram, the actor talked about his grief in an 11-minute video, filmed a day after his child’s passing, per E! News.

He admitted that the sadness was just setting in at the time, and he was starting to feel bad for his other kids. Smiley has 10 children.

"My kids are confused. They don't know what to do,” he confessed.

"I just never thought I would be a member of an organization where you have to bury your kids. It's a terrible nightmare,” he continued.

He said he initially didn’t cry when he learned of the news due to being too surprised. He described his emotions as "somebody stomping on my chest, and it's just non-stop."

"Tears are coming down your eyes, but you ain't crying," Smiley continued. "And then you crying and ain't no tears coming down your eyes.”

Alternatively, Brandon’s mom was also shaken over his death after just texting him hours before his demise. However, his youngest son, Malik, was hit the hardest.

"He got his own issues," he explained of the 21-year-old. "He's fighting to stay alive because he's dealing with a lot, dealing with depression and anxiety."

Moreover, Smiley lamented that he wasn’t a perfect dad but gave it all to parenting his kids.

"I didn't play no games," he said stated, trying to hold back his tears. "I just tried to be the best dad I could be. That's all. It is what it is."

Brandon’s memorial will be held Saturday, February 4, in Smiley’s hometown of Birmingham, Ala.
