Rick and Morty Fans Campaign For Tiktok Impressionist To Replace Justin Roiland

Rick and Morty is one of the most beloved and popular animations under Adult Swim. Unfortunately, as much as fans have celebrated the series for its philosophical wit and humor, co-creator Justin Roiland has long been set in flames due to his domestic abuse charges.

Although Roiland pleaded not guilty back in October 2020, the semi-sealed case was only kept out until a hearing occurred on January 12, 2023, surrounding the January 2020 incident against a Jane Doe. Thankfully, Adult Swim has taken action and addressed the issue on their Twitter account, check out their post below:

The tweet reads: “Adult Swim has ended its association with Justin Roiland. Rick and Morty will continue. The talented and dedicated crew are hard at work on Season 7.”

While the news received mixed reactions from fans, given that the overall “vibe” and voices of the two titular characters will change, Rick and Morty fans had something up their sleeves. In the quoted retweets, they had not only shared their thoughts and concerns on who the cartoon could possibly recast for the roles, but also indicated one specific viral Tiktok impressionist perfect for replacement: Sean Kelly. Aside from the Tiktok impressionist, numerous candidates arose from the fan tweets, including Danny DeVito, Marvel stars Chris Pratt and Tom Holland.

Given Chris Pratt’s fan backlash for the initial attempt to voice Mario in The Super Mario Bros. Movie, it is safe to say that the actor replacing Roiland is a bit far-fetched. Even the fans do not seem to like the idea. Overall, Rick and Morty fans are leaning towards Sean Kelly in replacing the previous voice actor, seeing as Justin Roiland had also previously voiced both character roles simultaneously. Who’s your bet on Roiland’s replacement?
