Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire was originally released on Netflix on December 15, 2023, before fans got to watch Part Two: The Scargiver on April 19, 2024.

Now, fans get the chance to completely immerse themselves in Zack Snyder's Netflix saga with his director's cut coming out soon.

The director's cut includes two new titles: Rebel Moon Part One: Chalice of Blood and Part Two: Curse of Forgiveness, both of which will drop on August 2, 2024.

"You really get to see a lot. It's just more painted-in all the way," Snyder explained, "The director's [cut] is a settle-in deep dive, which I have notoriously done throughout my career."

Some of the most prominent cuts he made included Watchmen, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and of course, the four-hour extended version of DC's Justice League.

While Snyder admittedly does not remember how he started the trend, he said, "The director's cuts have always been something I had to fight for in the past and nobody wanted it."

Overall, Snyder describes the director's cut as "a revelation" that gives "that second kick at the can for big fans."

For Rebel Moon, he intentionally made "two movies back-to-back" since it was "too epic to do in one film" in his original pitch to Netflix, "Oh, and let's do an extended cut that we're going to shoot different scenes for. Stuff that people just don't do."

Then there's also the other thing: the retitling of the extended version is to set these director's cuts from the original PG-13 versions, as the footage coming out on August 2 will be R-rated ones.

What We Can Expect From Rebel Moon Snyder's Cut

According to Snyder, the two new chapters of the director's cut will include "close to an hour of extra content" which he considers a "legitimate extended universe version."

As previously mentioned, these extended versions will be R-rated, and would definitely be much longer than the originally released films on the streamer.

Part One has been expanded from 134 minutes to 201 minutes, while Part Two has from 122 minutes to 170 minutes, showcasing new footage that Snyder could not include in its prior releases.
