Ravi's Representative Communicated With Military Exemption Broker

The joint investigation team of Seoul Southern District Prosecutor's Office's Military Manpower Administration submitted a 53-page document to the Ministry of Justice, which detailed what Ravi did to evade his military service.

As shared by Wikitree, the indictment reveals that Ravi and an agency representative named A in the documents met with Mr. Gu — a military service exemption broker. During the meeting, the broker explained to Ravi how they would be able to evade his scheduled service, including the fake epilepsy symptoms he would tell a medical professional.

The same thing happened to rapper Nafia, who was told to claim that his mental illness was worsening.

Representative A signed a contract with the broker on behalf of Ravi in March 2021 and paid a fee of 50 million KRW (around $38,164). They soon received a scenario to help the rapper fake epilepsy symptoms.

A few months later, Ravi received a medical certificate for the military service exemption. The text exchange showed Mr. Gu texting A and congratulating him on obtaining an exemption for Ravi.

Although his neurologist did not find any abnormalities, Ravi still requested a prescription and obtained a diagnosis after protesting with his doctor. He reportedly told the medical professional's career would depend on the diagnosis.

Military Evasion Case Leads Authorities To Strictly Promote Guidelines

Due to the incident, the Military Manpower Administration launched an announcement that it would strengthen the criteria for military service.

Per reports, it will have specific guidelines for individuals with epilepsy-related convulsive seizures.

Medical experts will develop guidelines regarding the consultation and consider the timing and frequency of seizures for those who have epilepsy-related convulsive episodes.
