Queen Elizabeth will never abdicate, so Prince Charles will have to start his reign after his mother. A report cited several reasons why Her Majesty is not considering abdication or renouncing the throne.

Queen Elizabeth Will Not Renounce Throne Despite Age And Health

The 96-year-old monarch had raised several health concerns due to her advancing age, especially when she started to make fewer appearances. In the past months, she canceled several engagements and asked the younger royals, Prince Charles, Duchess Camilla, Prince William, Kate Middleton, Princess Anne, Prince Edward and Sophie, Countess of Wessex, to step in for her.

Due to her decision to skip some events, some started to question her capacity to lead. A few even called her out to abdicate and let her son and the heir apparent, Prince Charles, take over the throne. However, that will never happen.

Reader's Digest cited several reasons why the monarch will never renounce the throne. The report noted that the Queen doesn't take her position as a job; instead, "it is who she is." She wasn't elected, hired or appointed for the position.

It's a "constitutional monarchy," and the order is dictated by the law. Also,  she holds the highest position in the Church of England, and it lends credence to the notion of the monarch being a "divine appointment."

Many were concerned about the Queen's health due to her age. While others are supportive of the Queen slowing down and abdicating the throne due to her advancing age and health, the said factors are never enough reason for the Queen to renounce the throne.

"No British monarch has ever abdicated due to advanced age," the outlet reported.

According to the outlet, those close to the British monarch said she could "never abdicate by virtue of age or otherwise." When Queen Elizabeth reportedly heard that Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands abdicated to make way for her daughter in 1948, she was shocked.

"Elizabeth knew even then that she could never abdicate, because doing so is inconsistent with the religious doctrine of the Church of England. There is no reason to think that Queen Elizabeth has ever lost sight of her official role of 'defender of the faith,'" the report added, citing her longtime friend Lady Pamela Hicks.

People Think Its Time For Queen Elizabeth To Abdicate

It's not a secret that the Queen is so dedicated to the throne despite slowing down with her royal duties. She is loved and well-supported by the public. However, even her supporters believe that it's time to renounce the throne because they were thinking of her health.

OnePulse held a survey, and 54.57% agreed that it's time for Her Majesty to abdicate.

The public loves Queen Elizabeth, and they do not want to push her to her limit. For them, she has already done enough.

Meanwhile, royal correspondent Daniela Elser suggested the same. She believed that the Queen's absences would only make the institution look bad.

"While her view that abdication or bowing out of the job has always been one of horror and extreme distaste, her refusal to even countenance stepping down is going to start severely impacting the monarchy," Elser wrote on News.com.au.

"For one thing, her ongoing health issues are already proving a huge distraction, with the flurry of reporting and speculation every time she cancels an event detracting from whatever do-goodery her children and grandchildren are up to, you know, the meat and potatoes of the royal game."

Elser suggested letting Prince Charles take over the throne, so he could start his reign with positivity and joy and not out of necessity. "In this scenario, when Her Majesty did sadly pass away, it would hugely mitigate the upheaval and psychological trauma which her death will trigger in the UK and the Commonwealth," she added.
