Queen Elizabeth was reportedly left devastated and heartbroken following the shocking death of her husband of more than 70 years, Prince Philip. The Duke of Edinburgh died at age 99 on April 9, 2021.

Initially, royal followers were clueless about Prince Philip’s cause of death. However, the death certificate, certified by Sir Huw Thomas, head of the Royal Medical Household, confirmed the cause of death of Queen Elizabeth’s better half as “old age.”

The Sunday Times reported that Queen Elizabeth would never fully return to Buckingham Palace, which is currently being renovated that would last until 2027. Insiders claimed that Her Majesty and the late Prince Philip has “rediscovered the happiness of their early years together” when they spent a large portion of the COVID-19 lockdown at Windsor Castle.

Royal author Hugo Vickers told the publication, per Marie Claire:

“Windsor is the place she loves. She has her memories with Prince Philip there, she has her ponies there and family nearby. It makes sense.”

Most, if not all, royal followers are aware that Queen Elizabeth has been conducting a number of engagements from her home in Berkshire, which include in-person meetings with officials and dignitaries, and virtual audiences. However, Her Majesty divulged to feeling frail when she stated during an engagement with two Defence Services Secretaries that she could not move.

Queen Elizabeth allegedly found solace in her work after the shocking demise of Prince Philip. Amid her mourning, the monarch has even continued carrying out royal duties, which include receiving her daily red box of official papers.

However, Queen Elizabeth was forced to slow down on medical advice in October 2021 after she spent a night in hospital. Buckingham Palace confirmed Her Majesty’s hospital admission and revealed she went in for unspecified tests.

Two weeks ago, Queen Elizabeth made it to the headlines anew after she tested positive for COVID-19. The palace stressed that the monarch was experiencing mild symptoms.

The statement read:

"Buckingham Palace confirms that The Queen has today tested positive for Covid. Her Majesty is experiencing mild cold-like symptoms but expects to continue light duties at Windsor over the coming week. She will continue to receive medical attention and will follow all the appropriate guidelines."

Queen Elizabeth is expected to make two in-person appearances this month. She is also expected to be reunited with the other royal family members in April for a memorial service for Prince Philip and in June for her Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

Queen Elizabeth Subtly Signals Support For Ukraine?

Meanwhile, Queen Elizabeth reportedly subtly showed her support for Ukraine during her first in-person engagement at Windsor Castle today with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. An arrangement of blue-and-yellow flowers, which are the national colors of Ukraine, was featured prominently in the background of the photos of the heads of state’s meeting.

According to Sunday Times royal editor Roya Nikkah, Justin Trudeau stated:

"I have had the privilege of knowing Her Majesty for about 45 years now, and I can tell you that in my meeting with her this morning, she was as insightful and perspicacious as ever. We had a really useful conversation about global events, as we always do.”

The Canadian prime minister also confirmed that he discussed the Ukraine-Russia situation with Queen Elizabeth, saying:

"I was able to talk about the situations we are facing and draw on her long experience from having seen much over these past decades.”

The “subtle” signal of Queen Elizabeth came just days after she made a “generous donation” to aid Ukrainians. The royal family has not been mum about the situation in Ukraine. In fact, Prince Charles, Prince William, Kate Middleton, Prince Harry, and Meghan Markle have publicly denounced the Russian invasion.
