Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been living away from the U.K. for two years now. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex shocked the world after they announced their decision to step back from their royal duties, leave Britain and move to the U.S.
Initially, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry cited their desire to become financially independent as one of the primary reasons behind the bombshell Megxit. However, the Sussex pair revealed, during an interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021, that the “racism” happening behind the palace doors and the never-ending condemnations of the British media pushed them to ditch the royal life for good.
However, new reports suggested that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are hoping to return to the palace as “part-time” royals when Prince Charles finally becomes a king. Keep on reading to know more details.
Meghan Markle And Prince Harry Returning To U.K. In The Future?
Reports about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s comeback to the U.K. have been making rounds online for quite some time now. Avid followers of the Sussex pair even considered Harry’s ongoing security row as an indication that they are serious with their alleged return.
Royal author Tom Quinn said to To Di For Daily podcast that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry may be interested in a royal comeback in the future. He stated:
“One interesting thing an insider told me… is that both Meghan and Harry believe that when the elder royals die – in other words, Elizabeth – they may well be able when Charles is King, be able to come back and be the part-time royals that they really wanted to be. So that they would be six months [as] working royals and six months in the States or wherever doing their own thing.”
“That was something that Queen Elizabeth absolutely said couldn’t happen, but I think Meghan and Harry are hoping that Charles, Harry's father after all, will be more of a moderniser and will say to them, ‘okay, if you want to be part-time royals, that’s fine.’ I don’t think Harry and Meghan really want to spend their whole time in the States and not be part of the Royal Family, they just don’t want to do it all the time.”
The royal author also claimed that Prince Harry never had an intention to destroy the royal institution despite reports hounding the content of his forthcoming memoir. Instead, the husband of Meghan Markle allegedly wants to find his “role” within the Firm.
Tom Quinn shared:
“I don’t think Harry does want to destroy the Royal Family. I think he just really does want to find a role.He doesn’t really have a role in the Royal Family because he’s the spare rather than the heir, but there’s still lots of hospitals to open, meetings to go to, charities to support. He could have had that limited role, but in California what can he do? So I think really rather than damage the Royal Family I think he’s just madly in love with Meghan and wants to make her happy.”
On Saturday, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry made their first public engagement in 2022 when they accepted the prestigious President’s Award at the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Image Awards. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were recognized for their special achievement and distinguished public service for their humanitarian work.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, during their acceptance speech, paid tribute to the people of Ukraine amid the crisis they are facing. The Sussex couple even called for global support for the said country.
The former Suits actress said she could not be prouder that we are doing this work together. Meghan Markle even added:
“We are so deeply humbled to be here in the company of such illustrious awardees.”
Meghan Markle And Prince Harry Still Care For The U.K. And Its People?
Meanwhile, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s latest move suggested they still care for their country and its people. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have announced they would be supporting a U.K. charity providing clothing and coaching to help women feel confident and get the job.
Smart Work Charity, on Tuesday, stated:
"On the first day of Women's History Month, we're pleased to announce that Archewell Foundation will be supporting Smart Works with a grant to help enable an important research project on female unemployment in the UK."
Earlier, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry issued a statement saying:
"Since 2019, Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex has been Patron of Smart Works, a UK charity that exists to give women the confidence they need to reach their full potential, secure employment and change the trajectory of their lives. Archewell Foundation’s support will enable the creation of the Smart Works Female Unemployment Index, which will be an extremely robust study looking at unemployment issues that affect women across the UK, with the aim of creating an annual benchmark against which progress and change can be tracked."
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have yet to comment on the reports about them planning to make a comeback in the U.K. So, all these unverified reports should be taken with a huge grain of salt until everything is proven true and correct.
