Princess Diana never had the opportunity to meet her daughter-in-law, Meghan Markle. But if she were still alive, her son Prince Harry’s life might have been different. After all, royal author Tina Brown is convinced that the late royal wouldn’t have been a fan of the Duchess of Sussex.

Princess Diana Wouldn’t Have Liked How Meghan Markle Is Steering Prince Harry

During a recent interview, Brown also claimed that Princess Diana would most likely have negative feelings about Meghan Markle because it seems she has been steering Prince Harry in the wrong direction.

“Diana was very protective of her boys. She would have been very, very protective of Harry and I believe very anxious about this direction they’ve taken. I think she would have felt Meghan was steering Harry in a direction that was not good for Harry. I don’t think Diana would have the great fan of Meghan that Meghan herself might perhaps imagine,” she said (via Page Six).

Princess Diana Would’ve Supported Prince Harry, Meghan Markle’s Relationship At The Start

But at the onset of Prince Harry and Markle’s relationship, the couple would’ve gotten Princess Diana’s support. After all, there is no questioning the fact that the Duke of Sussex chose a wonderful woman to end up with for the rest of their lives.

“She would have been delighted, supportive, and thrilled someone of mixed race was joining the royal family because Diana was so inclusive,” she said.

But over time, Princess Diana’s fondness for Markle would change, especially after learning how the Sussexes’ relationship was one of the reasons for Prince William and Prince Harry’s falling out.

Princess Diana Wanted Prince Harry To Support Prince William When He Is King

According to Brown, Princess Diana always thought that when Prince William ascends the throne, Prince Harry would be there to support his older brother.

“She never questioned that William would be king. It was her most ardent desire he would become king. She was never anti-monarchy in that regard. She had differences from the royal family — her biggest difference was that her husband [Prince Charles] wasn’t in love with her, he was in love with someone else. But she never thought for one minute that William would not be the future king and that Harry would always be there to support him. She would not be happy with how things are,” Brown said.

However, it is important to note that the royal author’s statements are just based on her own thoughts alone. After all, she never had the opportunity to talk to Princess Diana about Markle and her sons’ rift because she passed away 25 years ago.
