Princess Diana was reportedly very much in love with Prince Charles to the point that she wanted to save their marriage when it started crumbling down. Even though there was still no confirmation among royal fans and royal experts, the Princess of Wales was secretly aware that Prince Charles was having an affair with Camilla Parker-Bowles. But even if this was the case, she still stood by her ex-husband.
Princess Diana Saw Prince Charles And Camilla Parker-Bowles Chatting At A Party And Confronted Them
During this week’s interview, Princess Diana’s former protection officer recounted an incident that he and his former boss witnessed. Kevin Wharfe said that the Princess of Wales made a surprise appearance at a party that was organized by Camilla’s sister.
According to Wharfe, the guests were surprised to see the mom of two there, especially since the majority of the attendees are common friends of the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall.
“Diana didn't have any particular friendships at that party but when we arrived there, it was almost like freeze-framing a scene in a movie because there was this surprise that Diana had even arrived. But then soon after within the hour, I heard my name being called, I was in the kitchen somewhere. And I went out and there was Diana, who said 'you've got to come with me, I can't find my husband or Camilla,’” Wharfe said (via Mirror UK).
Wharfe said that it was evident that Princess Diana was in distress at the time. And they eventually found Prince Charles and Camilla chatting privately on the sofa of the property where the party was taking place.

Princess Diana Asked Camilla Parker-Bowles Not To Treat Her Like An Idiot
After seeing Prince Charles and Camilla, Wharfe said that Princess Diana immediately confronted the future queen consort.
“I didn't know quite what Diana was going to do at that point but with a great deal of confidence, Diana just went up to both of them and said to Camilla 'please don't treat me like an idiot, I know what's going on.’ And Camilla sort of said something, to which still to this day I have never really understood what she meant by that is 'well you know, you have two wonderful boys.’ Well, it was an incredible moment for me and certainly for them as well. That was a defining moment in their life because I think at that point... this was an indicator the end was nigh,” Wharfe said.
Prince Charles And Princess Diana Ended Up Divorcing
Princess Diana later confirmed that Prince Charles and Camilla were having an affair when she sat down for an interview in 1992. And she once again alluded to the royal couple’s relationship during her Panorama interview with Martin Bashir.
Prince Charles and Princess Diana later announced their divorce. And Prince Charles eventually married Camilla. To this day, the royal couple is still together. And after the queen passes away, they will be crowned as the king and queen consort of Britain.
