Ahead of Prince William and Kate Middleton's arrival, local villagers staged a protest and expressed their frustration with the coming of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to their land. Village youth leader Dionisio Shol explained that, while they respect the royal couple, William and Kate also have to give respect to the community leaders.

Prince William Fuming Over Royal Tour 'Clangers'?
Main on Sunday editor-at-large Charlotte Griffiths claimed that Prince William could be seething inside even if he was all-smiles the entire tour. She explained:
"William would have gone bananas behind the scenes because he’s got quite the temper on him and there have been some real misfires here. It must be really frustrating for them. They’re working their socks off and there are just clangers like that, that come out of nowhere."

Royal biographer Robert Hardman believes that the "rusty" organizers in the palace were to be blamed for the missteps during Prince William and Kate Middleton's Caribbean tour. The Daily Mail columnist told Palace Confidential:
"I sense that because there haven’t been any royal tours for a couple of years, everyone has got a bit out of practice, particularly on the planning front. I think there were glitches in the planning of this. I think when they get back from this trip, a few questions will be asked."
ITV royal editor Chris Ship pointed to one awkward moment during Prince William and Kate Middleton's recent tour when Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness told the Cambridge couple in a meeting that the country would be "moving on" to become a republic.
Chris Ship stated:
"The couple suffered the ignominy of listening to a talk from the Jamaican Prime Minister in front of the cameras when he effectively said that he wants Jamaica to ditch the Queen as Head of State."

"It was dubbed as a charm offensive, but I'm not quite sure it came off that way. It wasn't a royal failure, but I wouldn't quite deem it a regal success either."

Meanwhile, The Daily Mail writer Robert Hardman lauded Prince William and Kate Middleton for how they handled the outrage they met during their Caribbean tour last week. He wrote:
"The ‘colonial’ response would actually have been to ignore these uninvited crowds. Instead, the couple went over – and then even went round to the other side of the fence on their way out where they were mobbed once again."

Robert Hardman added:
"Much has been written about the ‘optics’ of the Cambridges’ tour, not just the fence episode but also the sight of them in a colonial-era Land Rover, the traditional feel of some engagements and the demonstrators demanding historic compensation for slavery (small in number but garnering plenty of media attention). Part of the problem, however, is that the royal party may have been too preoccupied with the ‘optics’ themselves. I understand that the entourage included a private photographer with expertise in sub-aqua filming in order to capture those shots of the Cambridges swimming with sharks. All very photogenic but what they really needed on the team was a wily old Palace veteran to scout for political landmines."
Prince William said he is not in the business of "telling people what to do" and any future relationship between countries in the Caribbean and the U.K. is "for the people to decide." The unprecedented remarks of Kate Middleton's husband came at the end of the royal couple's Caribbean tour that has been hounded by negative headlines and sparked questions over the continued role of the monarchy in the region.
On Saturday, Prince William, in a statement issued by Kensington Palace, said overseas tours were an "opportunity to reflect."

The Duke of Cambridge explained:
"You learn so much. What is on the minds of Prime Ministers. The hopes and ambitions of school children. The day-to-day challenges faced by families and communities."
Prince William continued:
"I know that this tour has brought into even sharper focus questions about the past and the future. In Belize, Jamaica and The Bahamas, that future is for the people to decide upon. But we have thoroughly enjoyed spending time with communities in all three countries, understanding more about the issues that matter most to them."
