Prince Harry quit his royal duties in 2020 and relocated to the United States with his wife, Meghan Markle, and son, Archie, shortly after. Since then, royal fans can only count the few times that the Duke of Sussex returned to Britain again to reunite with the British clan.

Prince Harry Allegedly Knew That He Betrayed The Royal Family While At Prince Philip’s Funeral Service

One unfortunate event forced Prince Harry to return home. Last year, his grandfather, Prince Philip, died at the age of 99. And even though there were tensions between Prince Harry and the royal family, he made sure to attend his grandfather’s funeral service.

But in Tom Bower’s book titled Revenge: Meghan, Harry, and the War Between the Windsors, the royal author analyzed the Duke of Sussex’s body language at the time and said that Prince Harry wasn’t just tensed because he was reuniting with the royal family. Instead, he looked uneasy because he knew deep down that he had betrayed them again.

“During that short procession, many watched whether Harry signaled any regret towards his family. Some interpreted his sideways glance towards William as the outsider’s unease. No one grasped the truth about Harry’s nervousness. In four weeks’ time, his Apple TV series about mental health would be broadcast. Transmission had been delayed until after the funeral,” he said (via The Times).

Prince Harry Was Reportedly Aware That His Interview In The Me You Can’t See Would Widen His Rift With The Royal Family

Bower added that Prince Harry must have known that the upcoming release of his Apple TV appearance would widen his rift with the royal family.

“Sitting alone and isolated, the 94-year-old monarch’s grief was concealed behind a black mask. Everyone was moved by her dignity. William looked tense, Kate serene, Charles visibly anguished. Only Harry’s expression defied accurate reporting. Flapping his order of service against his thighs as he left the chapel, he was clearly impatient. None knew that Harry, the once adored young prince, had betrayed his whole family,” Bower said.

In the docuseries The Me You Can’t See, Prince Harry claimed that his requests for help and support from his family regarding the media harassment were met with total silence.

“I thought my family would help, but every single ask, request, warning, whatever it is, just got met with total silence, total neglect. We spent four years trying to make it work. We did everything that we possibly could do to stay there and carry on doing the role and doing the job. But Meghan was struggling,” Prince Harry.

Prince Harry Criticized The Royal Family, Including Queen Elizabeth

After his interview aired, Bower said that the royal family finally realized that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were beyond control.

Bower also pointed out how Prince Harry refused to spare any member of his family from his criticisms. In fact, even if he said that Queen Elizabeth was greatly admired, he still had something negative to say about her.

“In it, Harry denounced William, whom he had previously praised as the only person he ‘could trust,’ and dishonored Charles, whom he had previously thanked for being so ‘kind,’ for causing a cycle of ‘genetic pain.’ He had even criticized the queen, despite saying she was ‘hugely admired.’ All were cast as villains responsible for his ‘cycles of suffering’ and ‘unresolved anger,’” Bower said.

Prince Harry also talked about his personal struggles during his interview with Apple TV. He admitted to drinking and partying following the death of Princess Diana. He said that he was willing to do things that made him feel less like how he was feeling.

As of writing, the Duke of Sussex has not responded to Bower’s claims.
