Pokemon Sun and Moon Sees Massive Cheater Ban

There's a lot of activity happening with the Pokemon Sun and Moon games. Just recently, fans were able to explore the Pokemon Bank update, allowing fans to transfer some of their beloved ‘mons to the latest title.

While a lot of players have obviously explored and enjoyed the new feature—going so far as to try out if Missingno will indeed be transferred—The Pokemon Company hasn't been idle either.

It has recently just sent a massive ban to 5,954 players of Pokemon Sun and Moon. This means that almost 6,000 players are banned from accessing the online features of the game because they were "altering save data."

The translated version of the official announcement of consequences are as follows:

"Random match rating battle will not be subject to trainer ranking aggregation
I will limit participation entry to the Internet convention to be held in the future
The following actions in the target game software are limited
Game sync
Rating Battle
Internet competition
Global attractions"

Players who are proven to use fraudulent measures in the game will also experience the same ban, so that's fair warning. And for those who after getting the ban will still use the illegal save data, The Pokemon Company will also consider using other restrictions and execute them without giving a warning beforehand.

You'll know if you got banned if you find an error message with the 090-0212 code. It's easy to get "altered data" from trading, so the best thing to do is be vigilant about the practice.
