Trainers may still have a lot more to look forward to for Pokemon Go this year. Niantic Labs may be gearing up for some major updates that could prove to be a game-changer.
During the keynote speech at the Mobile World Congress, Niantic CEO John Hanke confirmed that three major updates will be coming to the game at some point in the year, BGR reported. Since the 80 ‘mons from Gen 2 have already been released, it's highly possible that that feature is already out of the list.
The label of a "major update" is important to note, since a number of the updates that arrived in the game are hardly game-changers at any point. But if the new teaser is a validation of an earlier comment from the developer, the features may actually be on the top of players' list. That's because two of the features were revealed to be trading and player vs. player battle systems.
Those two features are nothing to sneeze at, as they can even bring back players who have already had enough of simplistic challenges and training at the Gym. The source points out that if the developer follows the timeline that it has established before, the other feature that may be making its way in 2017 is the revamped systems in the Gym.
Since Niantic has not even yet revealed exactly what these new features will be, we'll be hard-pressed to even hear for a ballpark release date. After all, there are still 80''mons waiting to be caught and evolved. Players will still have time to build their roster once more in preparation for these major updates.
