Pokemon Go Celebrates with Party Hat Pikachu & Milestone Downloads

Trainers have been having a field day with the latest updates that came for Pokemon Go. Between the release of 80 ‘mons for the Gen 2 and the expected special Party Hat Pikachu, there's a lot of things happening for the franchise and game.

Amidst all these, Pokemon Go managed to get another milestone within the week. According to Polygon, the app has finally hit 650 million downloads, as announced during Google Developer Day.

Part of this announcement has Niantic's Phil Keslin promising more fresh content coming to the app. Perhaps this is actually necessary more than just as a way to invite fans. When looking at the 650 million download figures, that actual signals a slowing down of the hype.

Compared to the explosion of 500 million downloads during its early days, the addition of just some 150 million for months on end may finally see the tide slowly waning for the game's hype.

Of course, those downloads still encompass quite a number of loyal followers, made even fiercer now that we're getting a lot more different ‘mons.

That's why with the celebration of Pokemon Day, the best way to celebrate this would be to find the special Pikachu appearing for over a week. Niantic Labs announced this over the official Pokemon Go website:

"From February 26 at 1:00 pm PST to March 6 at 1 pm PST, special Pikachu appearing all over the world will be celebrating Pokemon Day by wearing festive party hats. These special Pikachu will keep their party hats forever, but they can only be found during this limited-time celebration, so make sure to keep an eye out for them as you explore!"

If you're the type of collector who also wants time-limited rare ones, this would be a great time to check back in the game and catch yourself a Party Pikachu.
