Pokemon Go Gets More Definitive Summer Plans

There have been several speculations and whispers that this summer will be an eventful one for those who are still playing Pokemon Go.

Until now, the possibility of finally getting the Legendary Birds of players' respective teams has been brought up yet again. This time, it was from a report in the Brazilian newspaper O Globo (spotted and posted by the Reddit user Constyy over at The Silph Road), which points to two big features coming out in the summer.

The first one I in the Legendary ‘mons, while the more interesting one is an improvement in the battles between players. That is, instead of just being limited to Gym face-offs, the summer will finally see actual battles that take place in real time. Below is a rough translation care of the Redditor:

"Because of the huge success, we had to delay some planned news. Now, we are working in announcing new updates for this summer (North hemisphere), like giving more value to the choice of teams, launching Legendary Pokemon, and battles between the players. One such thing which we learned with Ingress is that the game sustains itself if we are capable to create social interactions between the trainers, and we are working on that."

The statement came as a response to the success of Pokemon Go as an AR title. At the same time, it asks a fundamental question in Pokemon Go's future: how do you keep players interested?

It's bad enough that a lot of the events as of late weren't as great as the previous ones. And the number of players are still dropping, so it would take a definitive and major change to their lifestyle to bring back the same interest as before.

The interview also touched down on the mechanics of partnerships with companies and safety precautions that Niantic Labs has done to prevent notorious accidents from happening. However, no concrete details for this aspect was given.
