Fans of the renowned punk band may be wondering if there will be a Pistol Season 2 now that the Sex Pistols biographical series has aired.
What is Pistols all about?
Pistol follows Steve Jones (Toby Wallace), a charismatic boy from the wrong side of the tracks who dreams of one day establishing a band and breaking out. When Malcolm McLaren (Thomas Brodie-Sangster) first sees Jones, he is smitten by his potential and agrees to manage the band.
Meanwhile, Chrissie Hynde (Sydney Chandler) encourages the insecure Jones to realize his own potential. When they encounter eccentric vocalist Johnny Rotten (Anson Boon), the Sex Pistols form, with Jones on guitar, Paul Cook (Jacob Slater) on drums, and Glen Matlock (Christian Lees) on bass, who is later replaced by Sid Vicious (Louis Partridge).
Critics have given Pistol mixed reviews. However, the youthful and bright ensemble is terrific, and the Sex Pistols' influence is still felt more than 40 years later. That begs the question of whether or not a second season will be produced. Everything we know about Pistol Season 2 is shown below.
Is there going to be a Pistols Season 2?
It's undeniable that a Pistol Season 2 is unlikely to happen, whether or not Danny Boyle directs it. The show was intended to be a miniseries, and it did an excellent job of portraying the Sex Pistols' rise and demise.
Stranger things have happened, and it's likely that FX will approve a second season of Pistol, which will center on the band's split.
What can we expect from Pistol Season 2?
If a second season of Pistol is developed, it will have to tell the darker narrative of what happened to the Sex Pistols when Nancy Spungen died and Sid Vicious overdosed.
While the Sex Pistols are legendary and tremendously influential, their narrative may also be interpreted as a cautionary tale of living too fast and dying too young, as well as what happens when you get too famous too quickly.

Pistol Season 2 would have to deal with the aftermath of the band's breakup, which would likely result in a very different tone from the first season.
When can we possibly expect Pistols Season 2?
Because there are currently no plans for a second season, putting one together would take a little longer than it would for a series that had already been greenlit. Still, if FX and Hulu see the potential, an anthology-style second season is possible.
Even if it were given the green light, Pistol Season 2 is unlikely to be released before the spring of 2024.
