It's no secret that people were calling for Gina Carano's removal from The Mandalorian. However, not everyone is happy that the actress has been fired from the Star Wars series. One petition has been begging Disney and Lucasfilm to reinstate Carano in the show and it is close to getting 10,000 signatures.
Carano was fired from The Mandalorian last week following her controversial posts on social media. The Deadpool actor's removal comes several months after people initially started the #FireGinaCarano hashtag due to her tweets expressing her political views.
The firing is seen as a power move by Lucasfilm and Disney. However, some believe that the studios are making a huge mistake by removing Carano from The Mandalorian.
A petition titled Disney: Rehire Gina Carano was started on Change.org as soon as the actress' firing was announced. The petition points out that "firing celebrities over their political views has been happening way too often." It also states that "her tweet was not made to incite violence or to express discrimination or hatred of any sort to any particular group."
Interestingly, several fans agree with the petition. As of writing, it has already gained 8,890+ signatures and rapidly getting more supporters.
Although some fans still want Carano to return as Cara in The Mandalorian Season 3, there are others who have different ideas. Another petition is calling for Don Cheadle to take over the role simply because Jon Favreau had previously cast him in Iron Man 2.
The Mandalorian Season 3 will begin production in April and is set to premiere on Disney+ in 2022.
