Pennywise Shows You The New Meaning of Creepy in New It Remake Photo

That first image we saw of the new Pennywise the Clown showed us that subtle creepy may be the best effect for the generation today. His creepy full-on smile, that aura of decay from past eras, and the lack of any childish whimsy in his eyes makes him the "adult" version of the Stephen King monster-in-hiding, perfect for the remake of It.

Now, Entertainment Weekly has gotten a new image of the shape-shifting monster, this time peering in the place where he is very much at ease: the sewers.

Seen in the image below, Pennywise looks like he's planning to do something once he gets out of that broken-down sewer. Or perhaps, he's giving a warning: never follow me in, or you won't find your way out.

What's interesting about the Pennywise for the remake is that he is no longer trying to hide in the shadows. This means that his creepiness is out in the open and in full view, and there's just no hiding from it anymore.

"Pennywise shows up, he's front and center, and he does his show. He has an act. So it's weird all the time, and every little thing implies a further threat."

According to director Andres Muschietti, this is exactly what makes Pennywise more unsettling and creepy this time. He's no longer trying to act like you're friendly neighborhood clown—he's telling you outright that he's about to deliver a knock-out punchline.

It will land in theaters on Sept. 8, 2017, and it stars Bill Skarsgard, Jaeden Lieberher, Jeremy Ray Taylor, Fin Wolfhard, Nicholas Hamilton, Logan Thompson, Chosen Jacobs, and Sophia Lillis.

Read:Marvel and Netflix will re-release some of its shows with HDR treatment.

Logan is still an emotional action flick even in LEGO form.
