Paul Bettany Discusses Key to Scarlet Witch and The Vision’s Close Bond in Captain America: Civil War

Even though Captain America: Civil War has been hyping the battle scenes and conflicts between the Avengers in its promos, the relationships to be featured in the Marvel film won't be all bad.

Aside from new friendships formed with the introduction of Tom Holland's Spider-Man, Chadwick Boseman's Black Panther, and Paul Rudd's Ant-Man to the Avengers, there's also a romantic relationship brewing in the group, specifically one involving Scarlet Witch and The Vision.

The story of their romance in the 1970s comics had been complicated, although the pair even got married and had twin boys. Still, it looks like Civil War will slowly tell the tale of their relationship beginning with Civil War.

It's puzzling though how the two will grow closer despite being on different teams. Well as it turns out, it's being different than the rest of the Avengers is what drew their closeness with each other.

In an interview with Cinema Blend at the Los Angeles press event for Civil War, Paul Bettany shared:

I think they both don't know the extent of their powers, and that's frightening. Vision has just recently been born, and she has recently received this gift.

And not knowing, like a child, where his boundaries are, that's kind of a terrifying… what's the extent, where does the room stop? Where are the walls? And also I think he's really interested in what it means to be human, and that might well be love. I think he's trying to work out what that is.

It would be exciting to see the two characters' romance developing in the next future Marvel films, but it's even more thrilling to find out what this entails for the rest of the MCU.

Earlier this month, Elizabeth Olsen also teased some "sweet moments" between Scarlet Witch and The Vision in the upcoming movie.

Captain America: Civil War hits theaters on May 6.
