We're now getting closer to the release of the highly-anticipated third season of Star Trek: Picard, which will feature the reunion of the main cast of The Next Generation 21 years after we last saw them together in Nemesis. Considering the franchise's global appeal, the hype for the new season has spanned worldwide.
Now, a week before the third season's release, a piece of exciting news just came for international Star Trek fans as The Hollywood Reporter has reported that Paramount and Amazon have struck a new deal for the release of Star Trek: Picard and Star Trek: Lower Decks outside North America.
Prior to this, Amazon Prime Video was the exclusive international home for the two aforementioned Star Trek shows. Now, they will be available as well on Paramount+ as the two streaming services have set a new co-exclusive deal making them available to stream in both services simultaneously.
The third and final season of Star Trek: Picard will be available day and date on Paramount+ alongside its US release in Latin America on February 16 and on February 17 in the U.K., Australia, Italy, France, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. However, the South Korea premiere will be at a later date.
The first two seasons of Star Trek: Picard will also be available in English-speaking regions starting this month while all seasons of Star Trek: Lower Decks are now available to stream on Paramount+ in Latin America and will be available later this year on the international markets outside Canada.
As a result, Paramount+ will now become the home of all Star Trek content worldwide while Picard and Lower Decks are still going to stream at the same time on Amazon Prime Video internationally.
This is certainly exciting for international Trekkies since the shows are now available in another streaming service besides Prime Video and it makes them more visible than ever. Fans worldwide can now join along at the highly-anticipated reunion of The Next Generation cast.
