Overwatch Cheater Ban May Still Apply to Lucio Ball

If you think Blizzard's ban-wave inOverwatch will be waning now that eyes are turned to its Summer Games event, you're in for a rude awakening.

It seems that players will have to play clean all the way, because cheating in Overwatch's Lucio Ball event will still get you punished. Basically, there's a new bug that breaks the game of Lucio Ball. Original mechanics of the mini-game dictates that the titular character, the rollerblading Lucio, should be the only one used in the mode.

However, it appears that creative players of Overwatch have managed to exploit a glitch that enables them to play as other characters. One of these instances happens in the video below.

While Lucio Ball is just a seasonal event, it seems that Blizzard is taking cheating very seriously with Overwatch. Blizzard's Jeff Kaplan has already issued a warning to players in the official Battle.net forums:

"Apologies for this bug. We've attempted to fix it numerous times and have had unrelated issues preventing the fix. We hope to have a fix this week. In the meantime, we are in discussions with our Customer Support group to start taking action against those deliberately using the bug to play heroes other than Lucio. Please do not exploit this bug. Fair warning."

Overwatch has been a notorious game that has seen wave after wave of bans for cheaters who use aimbots and other software to get ahead. The bans have been fairly consistent, to the point that perma-bans actually mean permanent banning from the game.
